Xanax and astral projection/sleep phenomena?

You are experiencing sleep paralysis--a form of disordered sleep in which part of the brain is waking up and the other asleep and producing chemicals to keep the body motionless (which it does while a person is asleep). Lucid dreaming, astral projection, and sleep paralysis have similar characteristics, but even in true astral projection, you are not ejecting from your body; you are having a paroxysm (a seizure) in the parietal lobes of the brain, creating the illusion of being displaced from the body. Psychoactive drugs, like Xanax, can have effects on sleep and dream states. Prevent complications, do not abuse the drug.
