Which one is better the nikon d60, or the canon rebel xti?

As far as which camera to choose this is personal preference. Both cameras are equally good and will have identical picture quality as long as you are using equivalent lenses. Go to a camera store and play around with both of them. The one that feels best in your hands is the camera you should buy.
